Glamsterdam on Hoodi Postponed | Ethereum Foundation Blog

The Glamsterdam upgrade on Hoodi, previously scheduled for October 26, 2026 at 17:42:48 UTC (epoch 132,352), has been postponed. A new activation date has not been set.

This update supersedes the schedule and activation instructions in the Hoodi testnet announcement.

    What Has Changed?

Core developers decided on ACDE #248 to delay the previously scheduled Glamsterdam network upgrade on the Hoodi testnet to allow for further investigation of interactions of EIP-8037 with mainnet smart contracts.

The delay removes the scheduled Amsterdam execution layer activation and Gloas consensus layer activation. It also removes the gas-limit schedule that would have raised Hoodi’s gas limit to 200M at the same epoch.

This rolls back the configuration for a future upgrade; it does not revert Hoodi’s chain history. The October 26 activation is no longer scheduled, and there is no replacement activation epoch or timestamp in the updated configuration. The scheduling of the replacement upgrade will be announced at a later date.

    Hoodi Node and Validator Operators

If you operate a Hoodi node or validator, check both your execution and consensus layer clients for instructions reflecting the postponed activation before October 26. Software or custom network configurations that still schedule Glamsterdam at the old activation time need to be updated to match the revised Hoodi configuration.

Do not treat the client release tables in the earlier announcement as confirmation that those versions incorporate this postponement. Follow your client team’s release notes and instructions for the revised Hoodi schedule. Validator operators should also review any instructions for their validator client and builder infrastructure.

    Client Releases

New client releases incorporating the postponed Hoodi activation will be listed below as they are confirmed. Update both your execution and consensus layer clients to releases whose notes explicitly confirm that the October 26 Glamsterdam activation on Hoodi has been removed.

Please check back with this post as relevant client releases will be linked as they are released.

    Consensus Layer Hoodi Releases

When running a validator, both the Consensus Layer Beacon Node and Validator Client must be updated.

Builder and validator tooling guidance will be added as it is confirmed for the postponed Hoodi activation. Operators using external block-building infrastructure should follow their tooling provider’s instructions.

    Application Developers and Mainnet Users

Do not plan Hoodi testing around an October 26 Glamsterdam activation. A revised Hoodi activation schedule will be announced separately.

This announcement concerns Hoodi. It does not set a Glamsterdam mainnet activation date, and no action is required from Ethereum mainnet users or ETH holders as a result of this update.
